11 Years of Halloween Chaos: The Wild History of Lifeinstyle's St. Louis Halloween Party

Let's be honest: St. Louis has a lot of Halloween parties. Most of them involve a punch bowl, a Spotify playlist somebody's cousin made, and a costume contest judged by whoever's had the least tequila. Ours involves a Lingerie Dance Contest, an indoor pool, and eleven years of very good decisions (and a few we'll get to).
This year marks Lifeinstyle's 11th Annual Halloween Party — and if you've never been, buckle up, because this thing has a backstory.

From a Warehouse Loft to a Legacy
Our first-ever Halloween party wasn't at a swanky hotel. It was a warehouse loft in downtown St. Louis, back when finding like-minded couples meant scrolling Craigslist personals at 1am and hoping the person on the other end wasn't a guy named Gary pretending to be "Mike and Jess." (Look, we've all been there. No judgment. Okay, a little judgment.)
Were there some sketchy moments back in those early Craigslist days? Sure. Let's just say a few "meetups" taught us real fast why vetting people actually matters — and why we eventually said, "Yeah, we need an actual security guard for this." Once the parties started growing past what two folks with a clipboard could handle, we brought in real security. Turns out that's the move when a warehouse loft party turns into hundreds of open-minded St. Louis couples wanting in.
If you were around for our basement location on Olive Street — congratulations, you're certified OG. That basement saw things. Good things. We don't kiss and tell, but we will say: legendary.

Why Halloween? Because It's In Our DNA
Some businesses do a Halloween party because it's on the calendar. We do Halloween because we genuinely love it — it's basically embedded in our community culture at this point.
Here's the thing about Halloween that makes it different from every other holiday: it's the one night a year society actually gives you permission to be exactly who you are. Sexy costume you've been dying to wear but chickened out on? Halloween says go for it. Alter ego you've been sitting on all year? Halloween's your holiday.
And at a Lifeinstyle party, that permission doesn't expire at midnight.
We live in an era where everybody's watching their back — online, in public, everywhere. At our parties, something different happens: you can actually let your guard down. Not because nothing's being watched — our security team is very much watching — but because everyone in that room is looking out for each other. Open-minded doesn't mean unguarded. It means we've got you.
That's the part people don't expect the first time they walk in. It's not just a party. It's a room full of people who actually take care of each other. You don't find that everywhere in the lifestyle scene. We're proud it's ours.

Why We Party Two Weeks Before Actual Halloween
Smart readers have noticed: our Halloween Party isn't ON Halloween. There's a very simple, very unsexy reason for that — a lot of us have kids. Actual trick-or-treating, actual Halloween-with-the-family Halloween. So we throw our version two weeks early, get our devilish energy out, and still make it home in time to hand out candy like responsible adults. Best of both worlds. No judgment if you need a nap on October 31st.
This Year: Bigger Location, Bigger Everything
This year's party is going down at our Premier Hotel Location — freshly remodeled, and it shows. More space means more guests, which means the St. Louis Halloween crowd we've built over 11 years finally has room to actually spread out.
The headline upgrade? An indoor pool. Saturday morning, we're turning it into a full-blown pool party — DJs spinning poolside, drinks flowing, and yes, you can absolutely add early check-in if you want to be in the water before anyone else shows up.
Here's the two-night rundown:
Friday — Devil's Lounge
Dress in red, courtesy margaritas 8–10 PM, a Lingerie Dance Contest, and DJ Z Man carrying the night into a late-night session in the party suite.
Saturday — The Annual Halloween Party
Pool party by noon, speed dating at 7 PM, a Haunted Room Crawl from 6–9, and a Costume Contest with real Lifeinstyle prizes, closing out with DJ Daddy and DJ Z Man.
Members-only. Pre-approved guests. No door sales, no walk-ins — just the STL open-minded couples community we've spent 11 years building.

Save Your Spot (Seriously, Don't Wait)
Our Halloween Party sells out every single year — has since long before the hotel, the pool, or the security guard. Book before October 1 and use code HALLOWEEN26 to save on your tickets before pricing goes up.
Eleven years, three locations, one Craigslist-era origin story, and a whole lot of St. Louis couples who found their people at a Lifeinstyle Halloween party. Come see what year twelve looks like.
